Inspector General Probe Focuses on FBI’s McCabe; Findings Could Warrant Criminal Referral to DOJ or Mueller

The United States Office of the Inspector General’s probe of FBI brass is yielding investigative fruits that may warrant a referral for criminal charges related to FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, according the FBI and DOJ sources.

McCabe, who has been administratively sidelined and stripped of his responsibilities by new FBI Director Christopher Wary, has been the target of an OIG probe for months. According to FBI sources, OIG investigators are finalizing its probe of the Bureau and McCabe’s name keeps surfacing time and time again. Federal law enforcement sources said the OIG’s findings have eclipsed simple administrative breakdowns in the FBI’s “front office” of its D.C. headquarters.

“There are several glaring problems,” one FBI source said. “I don’t see from what I know how McCabe walks away without lawyering up or cutting a deal to walk away and try to make this go away.”

The source said the OIG’s findings could warrant a referral to launch a separate criminal case by the Justice Department or U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team which share jurisdiction over any criminality linked to the 2016 presidential election.

“There are many problems and Andy is at the center of this thing,” the FBI insider said. “Some financial things have come up in the review, that is all I can say.”

When pressed, the source would not elaborate.

The FBI insider is perhaps alluding to Democratic factions controlled by a Hillary Clinton insider paid McCabe’s wife almost $700,000 in campaign funds before the senior FBI official, who was supervising Clinton’s investigation, lobbied against charging her criminally, according to records and interviews obtained by True Pundit.

Dr. Jill McCabe was a Virginia state senate candidate in 2015. Longtime Clinton family consigliere and Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, sent her approximately $675,000 to fund the Democrat hopeful’s campaign coffers. Dr. McCabe, a physician, is married to McCabe, the second in charge of the FBI.

According to one FBI insider, the McAuliffe-generated campaign funds may have ultimately bought Clinton some strategic breathing room.

Ironically, McAuliffe is or was currently under investigation by the FBI for alleged campaign-related finance infractions.

McAuliffe’s contributions to Dr. McCabe’s campaign match the exact time frame of the FBI’s parallel Clinton investigation. No contributions were made prior to the FBI’s probe of Clinton. McCabe was overseeing personnel decisions, including assigning agents to the Clinton investigation team, at the FBI’s Washington D.C.’s field office when his wife began her 2015 campaign.

Then incredibly, Judicial Watch confirmed McCabe failed to recuse himself from the Clinton probe:

Judicial Watch today released Justice Department records showing that FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe did not recuse himself from the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s unsecure, non-government email server until Tuesday, November 1, 2016, one week prior to the presidential election. The Clinton email probe was codenamed “Midyear Exam.”

While working as Assistant Director in Charge of the Washington Field Office, McCabe controlled resources supporting the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email scandal. An October 2016 internal FBI memorandum labeled “Overview of Deputy Director McCabe’s Recusal Related To Dr. McCabe’s Campaign for Political Office,” details talking points about McCabe’s various potential conflicts of interest, including the FBI’s investigation of Clinton’s illicit server, which officially began in July 2015:

While at [Washington Field Office] did Mr. McCabe provide assistance to the Clinton investigation?

McCabe also has miffed long-time FBI grunts by showing up for work in a Porche 911, which set off numerous red flags among the Bureau loyalists and hardliners.

And we haven’t even covered another McCabe-linked probe where it is alleged he violated the Hatch Act by using FBI resources and his position within the Bureau to promote his wife’s senate campaign.

In March True Pundit wrote an expose on a tirade McCabe launched during a staff meeting of FBI brass. McCabe, the second highest ranking FBI official, emphatically declared at the invite-only gathering with raised voice: “Fuck Flynn and then we Fuck Trump,” according to direct sources. Many of his top lieutenants applauded and cheered such rhetoric. A scattered few did not.

Gen. Mike Flynn pleaded guilty on Friday in federal court to lying to the FBI, a felony. His sentencing hearing is pending.

The OIG probe also is focusing on ex-FBI Director James Comey who reportedly had an earlier immunity agreement with Mueller’s team taken off the table, according to sources.
