Former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara is joining CNN as its senior legal analyst.
President Donald Trump fired him from his U.S. Attorney post in March. Bharara, a consistent critic of the adminitration, has also started a podcast, “Stay Tuned With Preet,” where he said that Trump first asked him to stay in his post.
“Had I not been fired, and had Donald Trump continued to cultivate a direct personal relationship with me, it’s my strong belief at some point, given the history, the president of the United States would’ve asked me to do something inappropriate,” Bharara said on Wednesday. “And I would’ve resigned then.
