Esteban Santiago Ruiz texted friends and family earlier Friday before turning the Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport baggage area into a war zone, federal law enforcement sources said.
Santiago, also known as Ruiz, was carrying an AT&T Mobility cellular phone with a Puerto Rico cell phone number at the time of his arrest. He texted family and friends earlier today, federal sources confirmed. They did not say whether the 26-yr-old alleged gunman warned anyone of his plans to open fire on travelers, however.
