Ex-Dem congressman seeks to delay start of prison term

Former Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.) — who is slated to start serving a 10-year prison sentence this month — wants to remain free while he appeals his racketeering conviction, the Associated Press reports.

The 60-year-old former House member said he thinks he can win a new trial, citing errors during his original five-defendant case and argues that his conviction may be overturned under a Supreme Court decision regarding former Virginia Gov.
