Drexel University students occupied their provost’s office Thursday and demanded the reinstatement of a communist professor known for his “all I want for Christmas is white genocide” remark.
Students and supporters of politics professor George Ciccariello-Maher occupied provost M. Brian Blake’s office as the latest act in a steady stream of support for the professor since his October ban from campus.
After the October Las Vegas massacre, Ciccariello-Maher tweeted that “white people and men are told that they are entitled to everything. [The Vegas massacre] is what happens when they don’t get what they want.”
Drexel subsequently placed the professor on leave, citing threats. The university has since permitted Ciccariello-Maher to teach his courses online, but will not let him come back to campus.
