In the frenzied opening days of the rebellious Trump era, top leaders in the Democratic Party have taken a posture of relentless, immovable, caustic opposition – assailing the commander in chief at every turn and often employing extreme rhetoric to punctuate its impact. It is a cold-blooded approach that’s required for this precarious moment, they say, given the severe changes Trump is attempting on everything from how the U.S. should deliver health care to who should be allowed to become an American citizen.

But there’s a risk in outright, perpetual obstruction as well and it’s simmering below the surface in conversations between Democratic lawmakers, leaders and strategists as the party debates the most effective path forward: If Democrats protest everything with hair-on-fire outrage, will anything end up sticking with the American public beyond their infinite indignity? ‘Dems Wonder If Their Perpetual Outrage is Hurting the Party’

The only fitting comment to that is …. duh!

  • John Berndt

Yes, at the very least it has the “boy who cried wolf:” effect. Nobody pays attention anymore when they say something bad about Trump because people are sick of it and it is now all just noise.

  • Als2Cents

True. If they actually had an argument they would use it, but instead they resort to name calling and violence. Their behaviour is pathetic and destructive. I would be surprised if there is a Democrat U.S Govt within the next 100 years after this.

  • John Berndt

The closest thing happening in history before this is when the Democratic Party went nuts after Lincoln was elected 150 years ago. Trump was attacked merely for winning the election.

  • Als2Cents

Well he is in very esteemed company then.

The Democrats Crazy Clock is now at one minute to midnight.

Have not heard one voice on the left deplore the violence, but a chorus of leftist-fascists encouraging more.

  • John Berndt

True enough, luckily this time it is very unlikely to end in civil war.

  • The only fitting comment is “horse manure.”

What’s hurting the party is relentless corporatism. GOP lite isn’t needed by anybody.
