Three U.S. Post Office employees were indicted Thursday for illegally distributing marijuana throughout the Washington, D.C., region in packages and accepting cash bribes for the service.
Authorities arrested the three employees from a postal office in Northeast D.C. Thursday for moving an estimated 220 pounds of marijuana through the office since September 2015. Deenvaughn Rowe, the manager, used two mail carriers to assist in the scheme. Rowe would handle incoming marijuana shipments and fake the necessary paperwork for the package, reports The Washington Post.
He would then send carriers Kendra Brantley and Alicia Norman to meet with people in the District and neighboring states to exchange the shipments for cash. Officials said Rowe deposited $31,485 stemming from the illegal sales into a personal bank account. – READ MORE
