Former Democratic Rep. Chaka Fattah of Pennsylvania was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday after being found guilty on 23 charges of corruption in a case concerning an illegal $1 million campaign loan.
Fattah, 60, who was elected to represent a district covering large portions of Philadelphia in 1994, was convicted of money laundering, fraud and racketeering, in June. The former member of the House Committee on Appropriations was routing federal grants and nonprofit funding to pay the debt he racked up during his failed 2007 Philadelphia mayoral bid. – READ MORE
